What is Trichoderma?
Trichoderma spp. are free-living fungi present in several soils and root ecosystems. They are opportunistic, avirulent plant symbionts. These root–microorganism associations lead to changes in the plant metabolome enhancing root growth and development, crop productivity and the uptake and use of nutrients.

How does Atens Trichoderma work?
Our Trichoderma koningii TK7 competes for key exudates from seeds or plant roots that stimulate the germination of propagules of plant-pathogenic fungi in soil and, more generally, compete with soil microorganisms for nutrients and/or space. Our Trichoderma also increases the plant uptake and concentration of a variety of nutrients (phosphorus, iron, manganese) and it can synthesize plant hormones.

How can I support Trichoderma development in the soil?
Crop rotation has a strong impact on the population and activity of Trichoderma. In its most extreme form, long periods of monoculture reduce soil quality in terms of microbial diversity and community structure. Increasing crop diversity includes not only agricultural crops but also covers crops. The use of organic fertilisers (e.g. manure), and slow release mineral fertilisers (e.g. rock phosphate) stimulate the growth of Trichoderma.

What benefits can I obtain using Trichoderma?
Several benefits have been demonstrated using our products in different crops including increased plant stress tolerance and enhanced nutrient uptake. Several scientific papers have shown that plants inoculated with Trichoderma strains were more efficient in the uptake and translocation of macro- and micronutrients to the shoot than non-inoculated plants.

What is Trichoderma koningii TK7?
Atens have investigated Trichoderma koningii TK7 during several years in order to find a strain that can colonize effectively the roots and form a symbiosis. Also, we have made extensive research to make it compatible with mycorrhizal fungi and, modeover, to increase mycorrhizal association by around 20%. It is also the first Trichoderma koningii with full genome sequentiation (in 2017) and the first plant growth promoting fungus (PGPF) with demonstrated activity product.
